One egg of the parasite enteroboius vermicularis (arrow) and bacteria. The eggs of enterobius vermicularis have a typical ovoid shape with one slightly flattened side, a double-layered wall, which contains the embryo, and a major diameter of about 25 to 50 µm. The finding of these eggs in the urine indicates contamination from the perianal/perineal region, where the eggs are laid at night by the gravid worm female.
