Giovanni Battista Fogazzi, M.D., nephrologist has been working on urinary sediments since the early 1980s. On this subject he has published to data 60 papers in international journals, the monograph “The Urinary Sediment – An integrated View “ (1994, London, Chapmann & Hall; 1999, Oxford, Oxford University Press; 2010, Milano, Elsevier) and chapters in several international textbooks. He has also run many theoretical and practical courses in Italy and abroad and has been invited as speaker to congresses in 22 countries.
Over the years, more than 50 visiting fellows from 11 countries have been trained on various aspects of urine microscopy in his Clinical and Research Laboratory on Urinary Sediment at Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico , Milano, Italy.
Giuseppe Garigali, ScD, has been working in Clinical and Research Laboratory on Urinary Sediment at Fondazione IRCCS Ca’ Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico of Milano since 2002.
During this period he has examined thousands of urinary samples mostly from renal patients and has personally trained many visiting fellows from Italy and other countries. To date, he has co-authored 27 papers published in international journals.
Gábor Bayer has been working as the director of the development department of 77 Elektronika, a Hungarian medical instrument developer and manufacturer company since 2004. The cuvette based microscopy technology i.e. the so-called UriSed Technology has been developed under his supervision, which became the basis of a urine sediment analyzer family. This technology is incorporated in several different versions and models, which are distributed under different brand names (UriSed, sediMAX, etc.).
