Triple phosphate crystals of different size and shape (urinary pH 8.0). These crystals, which precipitate at a urinary pH of 5.8-8.0 (median 7.0)(Verdesca S. et al. Clin Chem Lab Med 2011; 49: 515-20), are associated with urinary tract infections due to urea splitting bacteria, such as Ureaplasma urealyticum and Corinebacterium urealyticum. This is confirmed - in the image - by the co-presence of many leukocytes and bacteria.
