Sand-glass-like (top left) and ovoidal calcium oxalate monohydrate crystals, both isolated and aggregated (bottom right) (urinary pH 6.0). These crystals precipitate at a urinary pH of 5.0-7.0 (median 5.4)(Verdesca S. et al. Clin Chem Lab Med 2011; 49: 515-20). The image also shows some hyaline-granular casts and a superficial transitional cell (top right).
